Kenneth Dale Van Haaften, age 86, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Katherine Van Haaften; and his brother-in-law, Henry Verbrugge. Ken is survived by his wife of 53 years, Hattie; children, Eric (Mary) Van Haaften, Jill (Martin) Dover; grandchildren, Shawn and Kyle Dover; sister, Jean Verbrugge and many nieces and nephews. Ken was a builder/developer in the Grand Rapids area for over 50 years. He owned and operated both KVH Builders and Arbor Lake Apartments. Ken and his wife Hattie were also the founders of the Senior Sing Along charity. Ken loved traveling, sailing, and scuba diving with his family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, December 27 at 11 AM and funeral service at 12 PM at Christ Community Church, 2400 Forest Hill Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Pastor Mark Kirsch officiating. I have fond memories of Ken and Hattie from my middle school years. My thoughts are with you, Eric and Jill.
I remember Ken. Back in 1987..88 I did the finish carpentry on some homes he was building in Rockford. He was a great guy to work for and he will be missed.
