Michael John Schwark, age 53 of Cascade, passed away at his home surrounded by his family Monday morning, October 27, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Charles and Annabelle Doctor. He is survived by his family, including his wife and college sweetheart Robin Doctor Schwark, (best friends 32 years, married 26 years) and college-aged sons Adam, Aaron, Kallen. He will be missed dearly by parents John and Barbara of Battle Creek, MI, sisters Wendy, Briana (Chad) Stuck and brother, Mitch (Adriana), sister-in-law Diane Doctor (Damon Schrader) and brother-in-law Wayne (Carol) Doctor, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mike was a graduate of River Valley High School, in his small home town of Three Oaks, MI, The University of Michigan receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Degree in 1984, and DePaul University, Masters of Business Administration in Finance in 1992. A financial advisor for over 22 years, Mike transcended the normal client/broker relationship and leaves behind many great friends. He was a youth baseball coach in several area organizations, a singer/performer in choral groups and a member of St. Robert of Newminster Catholic Church. Mike’s quick wit, tender singing voice, love of cards and baseball will be dearly missed. The family would like to extend their heart filled thanks to family, friends and everyone in our community who has helped through Mike’s 2 ½ year courageous battle with brain cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 11:00 a.m. at St. Robert of Newminster, 6477 Ada Dr., Ada. Rev. Leonard Sudlik presiding. Visitation Sunday 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids. The family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Suite 550, Chicago, IL 60631 or an organization of their choice.
