OUMEDIAN Patricia Welch Oumedian aged 86 years passed away peacefully at home on July 14 2011. The world has just lost a wonderful gracious lady beautiful inside and out. In her memory we will love admire and respect her now and always. Pat had a genuine concern for everyone and her greatest passions were her children and grandchildren who would do well to emulate her life. Pat always had a story to tell of her days growing up next door to the OBrien Funeral Home. Pat loved life gave generously of herself and respected her friends and neighbors. She loved to sew paint knit and garden. She truly had a green thumb. Pat was always gracious and lived her long life with dignity and humor. She cared for and loved her family. She was the pied piper to her grandchildren. Pat was very proud of the accomplishments of her children and was a true partner and a loving wife for almost 67 years. Pat was born in Kansas City Mo., the only child of the late Ollie and Ruth Welch. She was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church where she was a School teacher and a member of the Altar Guild. She gave back to her community by serving in various activities at Shawmut Hills School and Union High School. Pat also became active in the Shawmut Hills Garden Club. Pat was a Union High cheerleader for four years. She graduated in 1942 from Union and received the Schools highest award the Dillingham Cup for citizenship civic contribution and academic achievement. She then attended G.R. Junior College. After D Day Pat married Armen Oumedian in Denver as he was getting ready to deploy to Europe with the Army. Pat and Armen have been active in providing scholarships to Kettering University and G.R. Community College students. Pat is an 18 year breast cancer survivor and was very supportive of Relay For Life of Forest Hills. Pat is survived by her husband Armen her children Pamela and Terry Roach Kathleen Klein Daniel and Susan Oumedian nephew Tom Oumedian and niece Judy Oumedian ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Patsy as she was known by close friends will be missed by her dear friends of 67 years The Club. She will also be missed by her wonderful care givers from Porter Hills who developed a sisterhood with her and became dear friends of the family. Funeral services will be held on July 18 2011 at 11 A.M. at St. Marks Episcopal Church at 134 N. Division Grand Rapids Mi Rev. Valerie Ambrose and Rev. Susan York officiating. Friends may meet the family at OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel at 3980 Cascade Rd. on July 17 2011 between 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Pat Oumedian Nursing Scholarships at G.R. Community College 143 Bostwick Grand Rapids Mi., 49503 Attention– Trish Castiglione.
