Paul David Westdale leaves our hearts aching, our faith in a constant ebb and flow and our hope yearning after his passing on Saturday morning, October 9, 2021. Paul was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on November 27, 1988 and lived a beautiful life full of adventure, exploration, a mind always up for a challenge and a heart full of acceptance and love. Paul endured a multitude of hardships throughout his journey, but never gave up his determination to live his life like nothing could stop him. Paul touched countless people’s lives and will be greatly missed and forever loved. Among those who will forever celebrate the beautiful life he lived are his wife Laura, whom he cherished beyond all measure; his son, Elliott, of whom he will always be proud; and his daughter, Hazel, who was and will always be the light of his life. Also missing him and celebrating the life he lived are his parents, Fred and Cheryl Westdale, who will forever cherish every precious moment shared with Paul; sisters Courtney and Lyndsay, who will remember Paul as their sweet, little brother who was the peacemaker and always brought the three of them together; half-sister, Vanessa Paolini, her husband, Jason and children, Madison and Ava; sister-in-law, Amber Westdale; grandparents Virgil and Gene Westdale; niece and nephews, Ashley, Thomas, Parker and Gabriel who will forever remember their fun Uncle Paul; mother and father-in-law, Victoria and Daniel Coon, who will miss their Pauly Bear; and brother and sister-in-law, Brianna and Eric Coon. He joins sister, Ashley Westdale and grandparents, Virgil Max and Coreen Thompson in peace.

Family will be having a beautiful, private burial ceremony on Monday afternoon laying Paul to rest on a hilltop surrounded by mature trees and history, exactly what Paul would want.

There will be a Celebration of Life in Paul’s honor on Sunday, October 17 beginning at 2:45 PM in the very spot Paul and Laura were married 7 years ago. The celebration is at a private residence: 9449 Alaska Ave SE Caledonia, MI 49316. There will be signs to direct for parking.

Note to Guests:

Paul loved sitting and sharing coffee, good food and meaningful conversation with the people he loved. In his honor, at the Celebration of Life we will be having coffee and a taco bar in this special place, close to his heart, and sharing memories together. Please bring a printed photo(s) to share your favorite memories of Paul in a memory book. You may also bring a camping/lawn chair to set up. If you feel led to send donations of any kind to Laura, Elliott and Hazel to help them in their new journey, please see the gofundme page or reach out to the family for other ways to help. Please feel free to dress in whatever makes you feel comfortable and mismatch your socks because that’s the Paulest.

Written, in love, by Paul’s wife, Laura, with support, tears, stories, prayers, heartfelt memories and love from Paul’s parents, sisters and friends.
