ACKERMAN Robert O. Ackerman age 84 of Grand Rapids formerly of Oradell and River Edge NJ passed away January 20 2012. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Elaine (VonWiegen); brother Alfred and Carolyn of AZ; sister Ellen of New York; his sisters-in-law Kathy and Noel of New Mexico Mary of Grand Rapids Vicki and Ed of FL; 6 nephews 6 nieces and many great-nephews and nieces. He was a graduate of Hackensack NJ High School and attended Michigan State University. Robert was a veteran of World War II served 40 years in the Borough of Haworth Police Department and eight years as Chief. He will be sorely missed and was well loved. Visitation will be 2-4 PM with a service at 3:00 Under the Auspices of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE. Memorial contributions may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research.
