BLOCK Ronald Henry Block age 77 passed peacefully from his suffering on February 10 2010. Ron was born in Grand Rapids in 1932 the first child of Henry and Helene (Bolthouse) Block. He leaves behind his beloved wife Evelyn (Boer) Block; children Katherine (Nancy Steltman) Block Ron (Rochelle) Block; sisters Karen Hertel Elaine (Ron) Elzinga; many nieces and nephews in the US and Canada and his faithful canine companion Hamilton. Ron was a graduate of Kendall College of Art and Design and later studied history at Aquinas College. Art and history remained major interests throughout his life. He served in the Coastguard in the early 1950s and later as a Grand Rapids Policeman a job he was very proud to perform. Ron and Evelyn traveled several times to Europe and throughout the US and Canada. In retirement they spent winters in Florida and on many cruises. Later in life he was very active in an Antique Car Club and enjoyed beating his Pinery Park friends at the pool table. His family would like the thank Veronica Bathes of Comfort Keepers for her help in allowing him to stay in his home for as long as possible. Thanks also to the Hospice nurses and his nurses at Fulton Manor. Funeral service will be 12:30 PM February 13 at Vergennes United Methodist Church 10411 Bailey Dr. Lowell MI with Rev. Mike Conklin of Snow United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral service at the church. Interment Bailey Cemetery.
