PETY Sister Beverly Pety (formerly Sister David Paul) of Grand Rapids Michigan (born in Mt. Pleasant) died December 11 2007. She was 73 years old and served as a Grand Rapids Dominican Sister for 55 years. Sr. Beverly began her teaching ministry at St. Thomas Grand Rapids with 54 fourth and fifth graders. For 23 years Sister Beverly was an upper elementary teacher and often principal in elementary schools. She served at St. Norbert Munger; St. Mary Muskegon; St. Joseph Pewamo; St. Peter Douglas St. Alfred Taylor; and St. Paul the Apostle Grand Rapids. Beginning in 1980 Beverlys apostolate took the form of pastoral ministry first at St. John Vianney Parish Wyoming; then St. Mary Kingsley; Director of Pastoral Care at Aquinata Hall; and St. Mary Magdalen Grand Rapids. Sister Beverly is survived by her sisters Anne (Jack) Kopson of New Haven IN; Sister Mary Bernadette Pety of Ada MI; Irene Turk of Chicago IL; Lucy (Chris) Haas of Dallas TX; and Evelyn (Herb) of Florida; and her brothers Eugene Pety (Joyce Reihl); David (Mart) Pety and James (Christine) Pety of Mt. Pleasant MI; nieces nephews many friends and Sisters in our Dominican Community. Sister Beverly will repose at Dominican Chapel/Marywood 2025 East Fulton Street. Visitation will be held on December 14 from 2:00 to 8:30 p.m. with a Remembering Service at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at on December 15 at Dominican Chapel/Marywood. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials in Sister Beverlys name may be made to the Grand Rapids Dominican Sisters Health Care Fund.
