NADON Sister Malvena Nadon OP (the former Sister Mary Armand Nadon) of Grand Rapids Michigan (born in Lampman Saskatchewan Canada) died July 26 2009. She was 92 years old and served as a Dominican Sister for 72 years. Sister Malvena taught all the grades from one to twelve most often in high school in the areas of social studies English and religious education. She taught at Catholic Central Grand Rapids in Muskegon Saginaw Bay City Traverse City and Detroit. She also taught in New Mexico at San Juan and Belen. During some of these years she served in school administration. Sister Malvena was a vivacious person with a rich sense of humor. She had many varied interests was a gifted teacher an excellent seamstress and an avid reader. She was an energetic sports fan especially for hockey horse racing and Tiger baseball.Sister Malvena is survived by her sister-in-law Dora Nadon and many nieces nephews friends and Sisters in her Dominican community. Sister Malvena will repose at Dominican Chapel/Marywood 2025 East Fulton Street in Grand Rapids. Visitation will be held July 28 2009 from 2:00 to 8:30 p.m. with a Remembering Service at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. on July 29 2009 2009 at Dominican Chapel/Marywood. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials in Sr. Malvena Nadons name may be made to the Grand Rapids Dominican Sisters Health Care Fund.
