Theodore J. Rupp Jr., of Grand Rapids, born on May 11, 1955, unexpectedly passed away October 9, He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou; and his father Theodore J. Rupp, MD. He is survived by his siblings, Kate (David) Christensen of Holland, MI, Julie Kay Rupp of Palm Springs, CA, Dr. Stephen B. Rupp of Grand Rapids, MI, Dr. Mary Beth Rupp (John Mekjian) of Brighton, MI, and Nancy (Mike) Zamiara of Lansing, MI. He is also survived by his 14 nieces and nephews, an uncle, and several cousins.

Family was everything to Ted, who was especially proud of his “college edumacated” siblings, nieces, and nephews. Uncle Ted enjoyed playing Pinochle and spending time at Lake Michigan with his family; he also enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews play sports. Ted constantly had a word search book at his side and could talk on the phone for hours, often reminiscing about growing up on the southeast side of Grand Rapids. He always worried about others and volunteered as much as he was able, as he battled several health issues for a number of years. Ted was loved by his family and friends and will be missed.

Visitation will be held at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 628 Diamond Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 on Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 10-11 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers and in light of Ted’s love for volunteering at his church, please consider donating to St. Isidore Catholic Church.

  1. Although I’ve only known you for such a short time, I enjoyed every moment spent talking with you.
You will be missed my Friend!

  2. I think I have known Ted for as long as I can I remember. We met in first grade at St. Stephens, and lived within a half a block from each other for years while growing up. Our families did some vacations together including a memorable trip to Disneyworld with something like 17 people (including a token Campbell) sharing two rented motor homes. Sorry to learn of Teddy’s passing, and you, his siblings, have all my sympathy.

  3. Ted, I just read about your passing today. I am in shock. I remember all of those Saturday mornings we spent bowling in the leagues at East Recreation. We had a great time. May you rest in peace my friend and may God richly bless you.
