GEIS – Virginia Elizabeth Geis age 93 of Grand Rapids passed away at the Porter Hills Green House Medical Facility on August 29 2010. Ginny was born on December 7 1916 in Cincinnati Ohio to Thomas and Rosalind White. She was one of four children. After graduating from Regina High School she attended the University of Cincinnati where she met Carl Geis the love of her life. Ginny and Carl were married on May 22 1943 while Carl was on a three-day pass from the Army. Upon Carls return from World War II they began raising their children Rosie and Bob. In 1952 Ginny and her family moved to Grand Rapids and became early members of Immaculate Heart of Mary parish. Ginny loved Grand Rapids and IHM where she met and cherished her life-long friends always regaling them with her one-liners even into her 90s. One of her favorites was I still have a tongue in my head and I intend to use it! Ginny lived a full life traveling the world with Carl and scoring a couple of holes-in-one along the way. She was always there for her family and friends and by the grace of God was able to express her love for them almost until the day she died. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents husband Carl and brother Harry White of Chattanooga TN. She is survived by her daughter Rosalind (Ronald) Hillary of Grand Rapids; son Robert (Lynne) Geis of Frenchtown MT; granddaughters Shannon Hillary of Los Angeles CA Jamie Geis of Boulder CO and Laura Geis of Frenchtown MT; sisters Rosemary Barth of Louisville KY and Sr. Lawrence White of Cincinnati and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered September 2 at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Rev. Troy Nevins presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation September 1 from 3-6 PM at the OBrien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel 3980 Cascade Rd. SE.
