Walter Otto Bloomquist, aged 86, son of Vera W. Bloomquist Sundberg and Otto V. Bloomquist, passed away July 11, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia on July 8, 2013 and the mother of his children Mary F. Bloomquist on August 25, 2009. He is survived by his sons, W. John (Deborah) of Arizona, Thomas O. (Wendy) of North Carolina, Bradley J. (Patricia), Kirk P. (Jamie), and David M. (Erin) in Michigan, ten grandchildren; Dawn (Jeffery) Elkins, Brian (Trudy), Abby, Cera, Mackenzie, Max, Hanna, Delaney Bloomquist, Derek Devine, Cassie Klemmer, three great grandchildren, two great great grandsons and several nieces and nephews. “Walt” was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired as a self-employed businessman. After retirement, he lived in Grand Rapids and spent winters traveling in his motor home. He was always supportive of his five sons in their many activities during their high school years and was always found cheering on his Wolverines of Godwin Heights. A memorial service and celebration of life are being planned time and location to be announced.
