William J. Hickey, age 85 of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife Eileen and sister, Donna Popma. He is survived by his children, Dan (Diane) Hickey, MaryBeth (Leo) Venturinai, Michael (Susan) Hickey, Julie (Greg) Wolf; sisters, Jacqueline Gruss, Mary Jane (Lee) MacIntosh, Therese Baker; sister-in-law, Mary Rossi; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. During World War II, Bill was with the Air Force stationed in the Philippines. Amongst his many accomplishments he was President / Owner of Ace Hardware, Member of the Catholic Central Hall of Fame, and as an avid hunter, was a founding father of the Peacock Hunters Association. He was proud to be a great fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Mr. Hickey’s family would like to express their deep appreciation for the wonderful care given to their father and grandfather by all the staff of Sunrise of Cascade. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1935 Plymouth Ave. S.E., Grand Rapids. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 5-8:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd.
